Community Kids Yoga: Karma in Action 🌟
Join us for the special end-of-series Community Kids Yoga Class on December 13, where we celebrate mindfulness, movement, and selfless service! This class is open to the entire community and gives kids the chance to practice yoga while supporting a great cause.
What Is Karma Yoga?
In yoga philosophy, Karma Yoga is about taking meaningful action to help others without expecting anything in return. This practice teaches kids the value of selfless giving, boosting their confidence and showing them how their small actions can make a big difference in their community.
This event wraps up our Grateful Hearts, Calm Minds series with a focus on giving back. Let’s come together to stretch, breathe, and share our hearts through giving!

Linda has several years of experience in neurodiverse-informed somatic healing work that includes mindfulness, iRest, neurodiverse-informed coaching, and mindful movement. Beginning kids' yoga and mindfulness classes was a natural progression in her journey of equipping people with the tools for living a mindful life.
TMN Kidding Around Yoga classes utilize the unique programming of Kidding Around Yoga based on integrative yoga. As a neurodiverse and trauma-informed kid's yoga teacher, every class is adaptive and inclusive, making yoga accessible for all children (baby – 12 years old) to participate.
**If your child has specific needs, such as sensory processing difficulties, it is important to notify me before class starts. This will help me create a safe environment for your child.
What to Expect in a TMN Kidding Around Yoga Class
A typical KAY class incorporates singing, movement, dancing, games, stories, yoga poses, mindfulness, and so much more, all woven into the original songs that we have created for our little ones. They don’t even notice that they are practicing yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing) because they are having so much fun. All classes end with a glorious trip to The Peaceful Garden (Yoga Nidra meditation) where kids get that much-deserved break from their day.
Classes can range anywhere from 15-60 minutes in length.
Currently, yoga classes are offered to children ages from babies (caregiver and me classes) to 12 years old. All ages can participate in mindfulness-centered classes.
What Your Kids Are Learning
In addition to singing and movement, most classes incorporate meditation and Om practices.
Meditation
Meditation is taught as a tool for relieving stress and gaining a sense of calm. In TMN Kidding Around Yoga Classes, kids learn strategies to incorporate for the rest of their lives. Children have so much going on in their world (TV, social media, video games, stress, noise, adult pressures, bullying). They are taught that these things can sometimes make our brains feel “koo koo,” and we need tools to help calm our minds and bodies.
I use 4-word phrases that are easy to remember, and they can use their fingers to say them. For example, touch the thumb to each finger while saying, “Peace begins with me.” This phrase can be interpreted as “I choose to be calm vs angry;” “I can be peaceful;” “I will be responsible for my own behavior;” “If I want to see peace in my world, I choose to create it in my own life first.”
Yoga Nidra or Deep Relaxation (The Peaceful Garden) is the heart of why we do this. These few minutes of guided meditation increases body awareness, reduces stress, improves sleep, and provides a deep sense of safety within their bodies.
OM
What is “OM?” Om is explained to kids in this way:
“Imagine you are at the top of a mountain with no cars, trains, air conditioners, or planes flying overhead.. just nature. Now imagine having super-duper hearing and hearing life flowing through all of creation. The vibrational sound you would hear is Ah-oo-um. We call this the heartbeat of the universe.”
I really like to make sure to incorporate either “OM” or another form of humming or vibrational sound in all classes due to the scientific evidence humming has in calming the nervous system. Incorporating different humming tones elevates mood, strengthens the immune system, enhances focus, reduces stress, and so much more!
